Our History

Established in 1993, Silvalea Ltd has achieved and maintained a high reputation within the replacement sling industry. We have a database of over 850 sling designs, ranging from basic standard designs through to those required for the most complex of medical conditions, in sizes ranging from Paediatric through to Bariatric.

The company was set up alongside the introduction of the first Manual Handling Regulations (1992) and the 90/269/EEC Directive.

In 1994 Silvalea Ltd was accredited with BS EN ISO 9002:1994 and through extensive ongoing development we were then accredited with BS EN ISO 9001:2000 for design, being one of the first companies in our industry to have this accreditation.

Due to the continued success in the industry we soon established a reputation that attracted the attention of healthcare professionals and suppliers. This has now resulted in Silvalea Ltd becoming a major force within the moving and handling industry.

We supply to healthcare service providers, hospitals, home loan stores, nursing & care homes, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists and all organisations and individuals who are seeking a solution to their manual handling requirements.

Our Location

The company Head Office and main manufacturing base is in the South West of England with a dedicated unit in Sri Lanka. We have a growing distributorship and representative network throughout the UK, Europe & North America.

Innovations

Silvalea Ltd was the first company to introduce specialised fabrics with the development of our renowned "para" moulded wheelchair sling and now with the new Superfine™ and Superfine Plus™ Slings.

Ongoing research has seen further development with the launch of the pioneering range of wipeable and disposable slings, specifically developed to assist hospitals and healthcare organisations with their fight against cross infections.

This continual introduction of new products reflects a conscious commitment to apply the latest technology in ways to make life easier and safer for all of those involved in patient care.

Our Standards

All of Silvalea Ltd’s products comply with BSI Standards and carry the CE Mark.

Our insurers provide Public & Products Liability cover to the sum of £10 Million in respect of injury or damage in the use of slings supplied by our company, for use on hoists manufactured by other major companies.

We work closely with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists throughout the UK and overseas. This enables Silvalea Ltd to advise many societies and hospitals in seeking solutions for specialised areas.
